Plans, seats & billing
Plans gate features, not your data. Everything you have already analysed or published stays yours and stays readable if you downgrade.
The four plans

Add-ons: BCINexus Edge and AI
Researcher, BCINexus Edge and AI are sold separately — take any one, any two, or all three, with or without a plan. On Lab, Edge and AI are shared by everyone in the lab.
- BCINexus Edge exports trained models as signed BCINexus model files and runs them on edge hardware such as a Raspberry Pi or Jetson. On an individual account it is bought per edge device, as many as you need; a Lab gets a shared set of devices. A device can be removed to free its slot once every 7 days. See BCINexus Edge.
- AI runs Claude and OpenAI models inside BCILattice — AI chat, Build with AI and the study assistant — with no API keys to manage. It includes a monthly AI credit, spent at each model's list price; you can see what is left in the app and on your billing page.
- All AI credit, including top-ups, expires at the end of the month (UTC) and does not carry over. Only the subscription owner buys top-ups for a Lab.
- AI is the same price on every billing cycle. The 6-month and annual discounts apply to the plan and to extra Lab seats; AI, like extra storage, is billed at its flat monthly rate multiplied by the period — its credit resets monthly and never carries over, so a longer commitment buys no more of it.
- Add-ons live on the same subscription as your plan, so adding or removing one is prorated and renews on the same invoice.
Seats and device activations
A paid plan grants desktop seats. Each machine you activate BCILattice on consumes one seat for as long as it stays active.
- Deactivate a machine from account settings to hand its seat back immediately.
- Re-activating a machine you previously used reuses its record rather than taking a second seat.
- A seat is per machine, not per person — a laptop and a lab workstation are two seats.
- Team plans have a separate member limit; a team member still needs their own plan seat for the desktop app.
- Edge devices from BCINexus Edge are a separate limit again: they never use up a desktop seat or a team seat.
What plans do and do not affect
- Publishing and review
- Peer review is not a paid feature. Submitting work, being reviewed, and appearing in the public record do not require a specific plan.
- Storage
- Cloud storage quotas are per plan and apply to what you publish or sync — not to the recordings sitting on your own disk.
- Downgrades
- Dropping to a lower plan turns off gated features. It does not delete your studies, your published work, or your local files; content over the new quota becomes read-only rather than being removed.
- Model export formats
- Pipelines, workflows and trained models export in BCILattice formats (.bltm, .pipeline, .workflow) on every plan, including Free. Exporting a model in an open format (a PyTorch .pt2 program that takes raw signal, with the study’s filters and Analysis steps built in) is part of Enterprise. Deploying to edge hardware is the BCINexus Edge add-on. Locally trained weights remain usable inside the app regardless.
Universities and institutions
Multi-seat and department licensing for universities, hospitals, and non-profit research groups is handled case by case through the Enterprise plan, which covers seat counts, procurement, and legal review.
Billing, invoices, and cancellation
- Payments are processed by our payment provider; card details never reach BCINexus servers.
- Invoices and payment history are in the billing section of your dashboard.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves the plan active until the end of the paid period.
- Longer cycles discount the plan and extra Lab seats — not extra storage or AI, which are billed at their flat monthly rate times the period. Switching cycle takes effect at the next renewal.
Refunds
Refund eligibility and the window are set out in the refund policy. If a purchase went wrong — duplicate charge, wrong plan, wrong cycle — write to [email protected] with the invoice number rather than filing a dispute; it is faster.
